Day 1: Sydney – Bangkok - Chiang Mai
Sunday September 30, 2007

Meet at Sydney International Airport for check-in before 08:00. Fly with Thai Airways flight TG994 departing Sydney at 10:00. Following arrival at Bangkok Airport, change to our connecting Thai Airways flight TG126 which departs Bangkok at 19:00. Note that Thailand is 3 hours behind Sydney Eastern Standard Time. Upon arrival at Chiang Mai Airport, meet local guide and transfer to Imperial Mae Ping Hotel.

Day 2: Chiang Mai
Monday October 1, 2007

Wat Phrathat Doi SuthepIn the morning, we visit Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep and the city area. The staircase to Wat Phrathat consists of over 200 steps. Its banisters are the rolling, green-scaled snake-like bodies of the nagas, their multiple, ferocious dragon-like heads forming the banisters' bottoms. The nagas figure widely in Buddhist mythology.

A buffet lunch will be provided at the hotel and following lunch we will visit Cottage Industries.



Day 3: Chiang Mai – Chiang Rai
Tuesday October 2, 2007

In the morning, we travel to Chiang Rai to experience an elephant ride at the Elephant Training Camp. After the ride, we return to see how the elephants are trained for lumber work. Break for lunch at a local restaurant on the bank of the Kor River. Following lunch, we visit Three Tribes Village. The inhabitants here include members of the Padong tribe whose women wear several brass rings around their long slender necks, the Lahu Shi Balah who have large ear loops, and the Akha who wear delightful head decorations using old silver coins, shells, feathers and fur. In the evening, check-in to the Dusit Island Resort.


Day 4: Chiang Rai
Tuesday October 2, 2007

Golden TriangleToday we visit Chiang Saen and its museum, The Golden Triangle and the Hall of Opium. We then travel to Mai Sai, a border town, before returning to the hotel. Lunch will be provided at a local restaurant and dinner will be provided in the evening.



Day 5: Chiang Rai – Bangkok
Wednesday October 3, 2007

Floating MarketIn the morning, we visit Chiang Rai City and its famous temples such as Wat Phra Kaeo where the venerated Emerald Buddha image was once enshrined, and Wat Phra Singh where one of the most beautiful Buddha images in Chiang Saen style is enshrined. Then visit 'Rai Mae Fah Luang', the largest museum in town with its unique Royal Collection of Lanna Art collection over the years by the Mae Fah Luang Foundation under the patronage of HRH the Princess Mother. After a buffet lunch at the Wiang Inn Hotel in town, we transfer to Chiang Rai Airport for Thai Airlines flight TG131 departing at 1555. Following arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport at 1710, we then transfer to the Century Park Hotel. Dinner will be provided in the evening.



Day 6: Bangkok
Thursday October 4, 2007
Floating Market
Today we visit the Damnoensaduak floating market. After some time at the market, we proceed to Samphran Elephant Ground & Zoo for lunch followed by a crocodile wrestling show and elephant show. At an additional cost, you can have your photo taken holding a baby tiger in your arms.

We also see an elephant show in which the gentle pachyderms demonstrate their working skills, play games, dance and are rounded up after a prayer rite to the forest spirits. Also witness an historical re-enactment of the elephant's role during the wars of ancient Siam. Dinner will be provided at a restaurant on top of Baiyoke Suite with good views of Bangkok City.



Day 7: Bangkok – Koh Samui
Friday October 5, 2007

After breakfast, enjoy your free leisure time in Bangkok and make your own plans for lunch. In the afternoon, we transfer to the airport for Bangkok Airways flight PG163 departing at 1530. Following arrival at Koh Samui, we transfer to Central Samui Beach Resort and check-in for two nights. With a prime location on Chaweng, Koh Samui’s finest beach, the award winning Central Samui Beach Resort is set in spacious beautifully landscaped gardens. Day 8: Koh Samui
Saturday October 6, 2007

Koh SamuiFree leisure day in Koh Samui. Just relax on the beach or do some shopping, and find somewhere nice for your choice of lunch offerings. Dinner will be provided in the evening.



Day 9: Koh Samui – Phuket
Sunday October 7, 2007

Today we take Bangkok Airways flight PG251 departing Koh Samui at 08:20 to Phuket. Following arrival at 09:20, we transfer to town for a City sightseeing tour visiting Khao Rang - a small hill near Phuket - to see a beautiful panoramic view of the town and nearly the whole island. We then drive past the old section of Phuket where the buildings still reflect early Chinese and Portuguese influence. We visit Wat Chalong - Phuket's most holy and renowned monastery; Phuket Shell Museum containing the large Andaman Golden Pearl and a magnificent rare collection of shells and fossils from around the globe; Rawai Beach, Phuket's oldest beach resort; and on the west side of the beach, the place where the "Sea People" live. We then proceed to Phromthep Cape - a very special place at the southernmost tip of the island - where you will see a panorama of stunning beauty. Following our buffet lunch at the Metropole Hotel, we transfer to Club Andaman Resort for check-in. Dinner will be provided in the evening.



Day 10: Phuket – Phi Phi Island - Phuket
Monday October 8, 2007

Kho Phi Phi
Following breakfast at Club Andaman Resort in Phuket, we depart on air-conditioned boat cruise to Phi Phi Island. Stopping en route at Maya Bay and Viking Cave for viewing and photos (no disembarkation), then continuing on the Ton Sai Bay and berth at the pier. Then we travel by longtail boat to Long Beach for swimming and snorkelling. Following a buffet lunch at a local restaurant on Long Beach, we transfer back to the boat for Phuket. After arriving at Phuket pier, we transfer back to our hotel. Dinner will be provided in the evening.

Day 11: Phuket – Krabi
Tuesday October 9, 2007

Today we drive to Krabi (3-4 hours). Following our arrival and check-in at the Vogue Pranang Bay Resort and Spa. Then, make your own plans for your leisure day ... you can relax on the beach or go shopping in Krabi town. You can find plenty of choices for lunch with roadside stalls for the adventurous and great seafood and other restaurants in Krabi Town. Dinner will be provided in the evening.

Day 12: Krabi
Wednesday October 10, 2007

Free leisure day to explore or relax. Krabi is an ideal getaway destination teeming with natural attractions including white sandy beaches, fascinating coral reefs, numerous large and small islands and verdant forests with caves and waterfalls. Krabi is the location of two world class beaches, Ao Nang and Hat Rai Le, as well as a range of restaurants and shops for those so inclined. Make your own plans for lunch - dinner will be provided in the evening.

Day 13: Krabi - Bangkok – Sydney
Thursday October 11, 2007

Free leisure day ... you can do some shopping or relax before transferring to the airport. Thai Airways flight TG260 departs at 21:05 and arrives in Bangkok at 22:25. Then our connecting Thai Airways flight TG995 departs at 00:45 for our overnight journey back to Sydney.
